For Anita Louise Horne Jenkins, the arts were essential to both the individual and the community. A way for people to expand their universe and feel connected and a sense of belonging. That belief shaped her philanthropy at Midland Center for the Arts, including the support she and her husband, Jim, provided to bring our region’s premiere of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to Midland Center in 2024. It was a milestone for our region, and a moment Anita cared deeply about: world-class artistry, cultural celebration, and community all in one night.

Celebrate the Holidays at Midland Center for the Arts with Electrifying Lineup of Festive Performances
Midland Center for the Arts is bringing holiday cheer early this year with a special Christmas in July ticket on-sale event. Audiences can start planning their seasonal entertainment and secure tickets to this year’s must-see holiday performances beginning Friday, July 25 at 10 AM. Featured events include the previously announced return of CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE, the beloved annual HOLIDAY POPS concert with the Midland Symphony Orchestra, and newly announced shows MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER, and THE OAK RIDGE BOYS.
Midland Center for the Arts Earns Challenge Grant from Dow Company Foundation
Midland Center for the Arts announced today that it has earned an additional $3 million from the Dow Company Foundation toward the transformational renovation project currently underway at the Center, which includes a bold reimagining of the Museum of Science & Art. This was accomplished by completing a previously committed matching challenge grant, which required the Center to secure an additional $3 million in new, diversified philanthropic support from other charitable foundations and businesses.
Summer Art Fair Returns for Its 58th Year in Downtown Midland
Midland Center for the Arts is gearing up for the return of its annual Summer Art Fair in Downtown Midland. This beloved outdoor event features handmade goods, local food vendors, live music, and the chance to meet and support artists from across the state. The fair runs rain or shine on May 31 and June 1 from 10 AM to 5 PM, and is free to attend.
