Midland Symphony Orchestra Announces Auditions for 2022-23 Season

The Midland Symphony Orchestra is seeking professional musicians for performances in its 2022-23 Season, with auditions taking place on Oct. 6 and Nov. 3, 2022. Auditions will be approximately 10 minutes long and will consist of required excerpts, solo selection(s) and possible sight-reading.

The following positions are open: Principal Viola, Section Violin, Section Viola, Principal Bassoon, and Second Trumpet. Principal Viola, Section Violin and Section Viola auditions will take place on Oct. 6; Principal Bassoon and Second Trumpet auditions will take place on Nov. 3. Auditions will begin at 6:30 p.m.  The schedule will be available 3 days ahead of the audition day.

Registration and a $25 refundable deposit are required to arrive by Sept. 29 for the Oct. 6 auditions and by Oct. 27 for the Nov. 3 auditions. Checks should be mailed to 1801 W. Saint Andrews, Midland, MI 48640 and will be returned to each musician at the conclusion of their in-person audition at the Center.  Find required repertoire, excerpts and an application form at midlandcenter.org/auditions. The Midland Symphony Orchestra (MSO) has provided mid-Michigan with continuous symphonic music since 1936. Along with concerts featuring renowned guest artists, the MSO also provides educational opportunities through its partnerships with area schools, scholarships, music appreciation initiatives and guest artist master classes and residencies.
