Having just commemorated its 50th Anniversary, the Center for the Arts celebrated its rich history as a regional destination for immersive exploration, historical research, artistic expression and scientific discovery.

Midland Center for the Arts Welcomes New Manager of Produced Theatre and Theatre Education
Midland Center for the Arts has announced the addition of Travis Kendrick as the new Manager of Produced Theatre and Theatre Education. Kendrick comes to the Center as a professional director, choreographer and educator, having most recently served as the Director of Education for Mill Mountain Theatre and Visiting Faculty Member for both Hollins University and Virginia tech.

2020 was a year like most generations have never seen before, it is just a fact. But ‘What’s Certain About Uncertainty’ is the question that Midland Center for the Arts is asking of the community. The upcoming exhibit, What’s Certain About Uncertainty, is a traveling exhibition featuring objects from the Greater Michigan area that focus on the pandemic, historic flood in Midland County, racial injustice, and other life altering events through the lens of our friends and neighbors.

Midland Actress, Director and Volunteer Honored with National Community Theatre Award
Winning a Tony Award is the icing on the cake for Broadway stars, as is an Academy Award to a movie actor or a GRAMMY to a musician. These prestigious awards symbolize hard work, sleepless nights, dozens upon dozens of auditions and demos, a few tears shed and dedication to a profession they love. People of all ages will get dressed in their best costumes on October 31 for the Halloween Bash, an outdoor socially distanced celebration in front of the Center for the Arts.
Midland County Historical Society Collects Stories and Experiences About the Community Through Oral History Project
The history of Midland County is important, for its residents, historians and future generations. Although we often think of history as only what remains from the past, whether that be stories, journals, photos, documents or artifacts, history is actually living in each moment of every day. The Midland County Historical Society preserves the county’s history by maintaining a collection of historical objects and documents, but they are also working to ensure the stories of our current experience are documented and preserved for future generations and historians.
