Student Matinee Performances

Okee Dokee Brothers

MAR 13, 2020 / 10 AM / Grades 1 - 6

The Okee Dokee Brothers appearance at Midland Center for the Arts, scheduled for Friday, March 13 has been postponed due to travel constraints with the artists.  They have also had to postpone their appearance at Chippewa Nature Center on Saturday, March 14 at 10 AM.

We are delighted that the Brothers will return to Midland Center at a later date and we are currently working with the band to get that scheduled.  We look forward to musically exploring the great outdoors with you at that time! As soon as we have more information about that appearance, we will let you know.

If you are a teacher who has reserved this event for your classroom, our staff will be in contact with you.

Explore the great outdoors across the United States with the Grammy Award-winning Okee Dokee Brothers. Joe and Justin have written Americana folk music for all ages inspired by their travels along the Mississippi River, up and down the Appalachian Trail, across the desert, and dog-sledding through the winter snow. The Okee Dokee Brothers are a perfect access point for learning about geography, life sciences, music and music history.

Miss Nelson Has a Field Day

MAY 1, 2020 / 10 AM / Grades PreK - 5

The Dallas Children’s Theatre is postponing its tour of Miss Nelson Has a Field Day. We are working with the artists to reschedule this performance at Midland Center for a later date.

As soon as we have more information regarding the rescheduled tour of Miss Nelson has a Field Day, we will let you know.  If you have tickets to this event, our ticket office will be contacting you directly by phone to discuss the process of moving you to the new event or providing a refund.

If you are a teacher who has reserved this event for your classroom, our staff will be in contact with you.

We look forward to coming back together as a community through the art of music and performance.  We appreciate your patience and support - we will get through this together!

We are also creating additional family and teacher resources which will soon be available both online and via social media.

Return to Horace B. Smedley School in this wacky musical where the Smedley Tornadoes have never won a football game. With such a poor record and a
team that is out of control, kindhearted Miss Nelson comes to the rescue when she enlists the help of her alter ego, the ill-tempered Miss Viola Swamp, to coach the team and whip them into shape. Presented by the Dallas Children’s Theater.
