Midland Center for the Arts is seeking artists to design a sculpture that will be built out of metal by the Max Carey Blacksmith Guild. Sculpture designs must be no more than 5 ft in diameter and must be Michigan nature-themed. Completed sculptures will be on display at Chippewa Nature Center JUN - SEP, 2024.
This new opportunity will be juried by a panel that includes art professionals and team members from Chippewa Nature Center, Midland Center for the Arts, and the Guild. Work will be evaluated based on subject, ability to be translated into a metal sculpture, and artistic quality. 3-6 designs will be selected for final creation. Artists will be paid a $100 prize for use of their design.
How to Enter:
- Attend the Blacksmith Meet and Greet on OCT 18, from 6:30-8 PM (located at Carriage Hall - 3200 Cook Rd. Midland, MI 48640). You will discuss your preliminary sketch with a member of the Guild. You must come with your sketch prepared.
- Submit your final design (application below) by NOV 7, 2023.
