About Midland Symphony Orchestra
Midland Symphony Orchestra has brought symphonic music to mid-Michigan since 1936. As one of Midland Center’s charter organizations, Midland Symphony Orchestra helped shape the vision for a shared cultural home where music and creativity could grow.
The Symphony’s annual Christmas concert on December 5, 1970, became the first performance held in the new Midland Center building, even before the facility was officially turned over to its Board of Directors. That milestone began a new chapter for an orchestra already deeply connected to the community.
Today, more than 70 professional musicians from across Michigan and beyond come together to perform classical masterworks, innovative programs and concerts featuring renowned guest artists. Through performances, family programs and educational opportunities, the Symphony continues to make symphonic music part of life in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
