Quinn Kelsey began in opera in 1991 as a chorus member with the Hawaii Opera Theatre. This world-class baritone’s talents have taken him far from his native Hawaii, putting on many different stages in the U.S. and abroad. In this Masters Event, Quinn will perform for you LIVE, and then will take you, the viewer, behind the scenes to observe a live vocal master class, followed by an interactive question and answer session.
According to Opera Warhorses, in reference to the title role performed at the San Francisco Opera, “Kelsey’s Rigoletto performance demonstrates a mastery of both the vocal and dramatic requirements of one of the great (if not the greatest) baritone roles of the Italian repertory.” Known for his dramatic insights and expressiveness in key roles, Quinn has appeared in, among other places, Zurich, London (English National Opera), Santa Fe, Paris (Opéra National de Paris), his hometown Honolulu (Hawai’i Opera Theater), Lyric Opera of Chicago and Frankfurt, Germany.
These unique events include a LIVE performance by world-renowned artists followed by the opportunity for you to get behind the scenes and observe a masterclass with top-tier students in action. Observe, in real time, the sharing of techniques that made these artists successful and then join in the Questions and Answer session that follows. (If you would like to be a student in one of these classes, please contact Matt Travis at [email protected])
The Masters Events also include:
- OCT 22 / Russell Thomas, tenor
- OCT 16 / Amy Porter, flute
