Julius Caesar

FRI, JUL 31 / 9 PM

Friends, Roman, countrymen… it seems appropriate to end the month of July with the man after whom it is named: Julius Caesar! Join us for a journey through the true story so famous it feels like mythology. Filled with characters and words that echo through the centuries: Brutus, Cassius, Marc Antony, and the general without equal who dared to envision himself as king, and paid the price for his hubris: Julius Caesar.

Antony and Cleopatra

After the fall of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony becomes part of the second triumvirate, a group of three men who rule the Roman Republic. After marrying Caesar’s daughter, Octavia, Antony abandons her in favor of Cleopatra, alongside whom he crowns himself ruler of Egypt. About the Movie: "Hamilton" is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and show tunes, "Hamilton" has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theater--a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. Captured at the Richard Rodgers Theater on Broadway in June 2016, the film transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way.

Coriolanus

FRI, AUG 14 / 9 PM

Our third and final installment in our “Rome” series is set several centuries before the events of Julius Caesar. Caius Martius, known as Coriolanus for his great victory at Corioli, is an arrogant and fearsome general who has spent his life protecting Rome from its enemies. Pushed by his ambitious mother to seek the position of consul, Coriolanus alienates both the peasants and aristocracy of Rome. When a riot results in his expulsion from the city, Coriolanus seeks an alliance with his enemy in order to take his revenge upon the great city.

Two Gentleman of Verona

FRI, AUG 21 / 9 PM

Two best friends, Proteus and Valentine, travel to Milan where they both fall in love with the Duke’s daughter Silvia. Silvia loves Valentine, but Proteus pursues her despite the fact he has a girlfriend at home. This rather silly comedy is one of Shakespeare’s earliest efforts, but hints at the genius that will follow.
