Representative Elissa Slotkin

Before she was elected in 2018, her professional experience included serving as a CIA analyst in Iraq.

“I’ve spent my entire career in national security—at the CIA and at the Department of Defense—so I’m pretty familiar with working in male-dominated fields. This time around, we had so many qualified, capable women deciding to do this unusual thing and run for office. They said, ‘Enough. This is not how politics is supposed to work. It’s not what we learned in church or how we taught our kids. And if Washington doesn’t know how to get things done, we’ll teach them.’ They knocked on doors, talked to friends and neighbors, and they proved that service to your community is, in this day and age, service to your country.”
