The Hall of Ideas and the upper floors of the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art remain closed due to flood damage to our facility, we are bringing interactive and hands-on STEM Exhibits to the IFF & DuPont STEM Exhibit Space. Join us for one of the exhibits below:

FRI 12 - 4 PM, SAT 10 AM - 2 PM and SUN 12 - 4 PM

$4 per person and FREE for Museum Members

Discover the vibrant world of light in this hands-on, immersive exhibit. Learn about the physics of light as you experiment with the ways it moves and bends, explore how our eyes perceive light and the tricks that it can play on us, while viewing earth’s spectacular natural light shows.

Minis in the Museum story time for children

Minis in the Museum

SAT, FEB 24, 2024 / 10:30 AM

Join us for a monthly story time at the museum! Mini museum goers between the ages of 1 - 5 are invited to join us every third Saturday of the month at 10:30 AM in the IFF & Dupont STEM Exhibit Space. Guests will enjoy a special story and themed snack, as well as a take-home activity for children and parents to do together.

Spring into STEM

SAT, MAR 30, 2024 / 10 AM - 2 PM

Join us as we celebrate spring! Learn about the many native plants that begin blooming in the spring and the animals that depend on them, get creative with plein air painting demos, become a botanist as you create a unique botanical work of art, and learn about the insects that make an appearance each spring! Make sure to stop by our community partner tables for more fun hands-on activities!

Celebrate the season of migration at Midland Center for the Arts! Whether you are a beginning birder or a fully-fledged "bird nerd", we invite you to join us for a special presentation on how to find and identify Michigan birds.

STEAM Superheroes

Explore the science and art behind your favorite superheroes! Meet your favorite superheroes, join in hands-on experiments, create your own graphic novel spread, watch super science demonstrations and meet the real STEM heroes in our community!

Spark!Lab® Smithsonian

Spark!Lab is a unique hands-on learning lab where visitors of all ages can explore what it means to be an inventor. Participants use their knowledge and provided materials to answer open-ended challenges. Creativity and collaboration abound in this safe space where if you fail it is just a first attempt in learning!
